A Jumper

Two jumpers in a weeks time. The 1st one was bad. He caused businesses to be closed down, construction workers to miss work and you know most of these folks get paid by the hour.
Everybody knows that they aren't really going to jump, and IMHO the easist way to get them down is to withhold the thing that they desire most - attention. The first guy, they should have just told the guy, hey we are going to give you an hour and then we are going to pack up and go, open up the street below and let the construction workers back on the site. If he is still up there when that crane starts wizzing around again, making him dizzy, he'll come down.
The police can't win either way things go. If the guy jumps, they didn't do enough to save him. If he stays up there to long, they didn't do enough to get him down.
Watch the news, in a few weeks the man's family (or even the guy himself) will sue the construction company for not having enough safeguards in place to prevent him from climbing that crane.
Yesterday, we had a copy cat crane crawler. He was just messed up in the head. They talked him down with cigarettes and donuts. Its good to have a cause!
I wonder if other cities have the same problem. We had a rash of bridge jumpers in the past. Can't folks think of more interresting ways to off themselfs?
I'm out

Fallen heroes

Today is memorial Day. We take time out to honor our fallen heroes. I did 24 years in the Army and never fired a shot in anger, nor was one ever fired at me. I salute those young men and women of today that are only a few months or years in the Armed Forces and are commons under fire everyday.
I don't necessarily believe in the current conflict going on today in Iraq and Afghanistan. But I do salute the soldiers that are there serving.
God Bless the fallen heroes of this war, past wars, and wars to come. They all deserve our support and wishes that they come home soon.

My Life Up Till Now

Hey, I told you I'd be back. This June marks an amazing thing. I'll be 50 years old. Yes, a half centry. There has just been way too much water under the bridge for me to cover every thing, so I'll just hit the high points. Born on the banks of the Missouri River in June 1955, in Omaha, Nebraska. Raised in right across that same river in Council Bluffs Iowa. Did my time in the Iowa public school system and joined the Army right out of High School. I did 24 years in the Army, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant before I got out. During that 24 years, I did time in Holland, Germany, Texas, Colorado, Missouri, and Georgia. My last stop was Georgia so after I got out, I decided to stick around. I'm currently working for a publishing company in Atlanta, where I do IT stuff. They break em, I fix em. And thats where I'll start. I named this blog page, Accidental Thought. I saw that somewhere, can't remember. I was going to name it Brain Droppings after a book by George Carlin that I was reading at the Barnes & Noble, but I'll leave that to George. I'm going to post my thoughts. Maybe one day they will make a movie out of it. LOL. I'm also pretty good with computers and have a little web page biz off to the side. So feel free to ask me a techie question. I'll do my best to answer it. Remember, this site will display my own opinion so don't be mad if you don't agree. But I'll be more then happy to read your replies, agree or disagree. Have a great evening and I'll post more later.
