Its Too Soon

Halloween has only been over for a week and already its Christmas season. Decorations have been up since before Halloween. Stores have cleared their shelves to make room for all the decorations. Looking for decorations for Thanksgiving? Look in the back of the store in the discount bins. Thanksgiving decorations are already on sale.
The decorations keep getting more tacky every year. The big trend are these huge blow-up nylon figures.
I hate what corporate America has done to the Holidays. It seems like to get a jump on the other guy, the decorations and sale items hit the shelves earlier and earlier every year. It helps to remind me that I don't have any money for presents.
Last year, I was out of work at Christmas time and collecting unemployment. Wasn't enough money for presents. So I just concentrated on the things that meant more then stuff. Like having a good Meal; a warm house; and warm clothes. It was the best Christmas in a long time. When you don't have money for extras, and you accept this fact, it can be a wonderful thing.
I'm working again, but I refuse to go into debt and pay for Christmas month after month after its over.
Happy Holidays.
